Laursen - Part 5

Two years ago...

Sheryl had talked to Lauri after his football match for the first time and the young Finn still couldn't believe that. Why him out of so many other guys? It could also be Soren, but she chose him. Lauri didn't give much thought about it and was just happy about his current situation. Sheryl was a nice girl, out-going but Lauri could see that she had some troubles finding a good friend she could fully trust. It wasn't that surprising because most girls didn't like her and preferred to avoid her, because of the Débuchy Challenge. But somehow she was trusting him and Lauri had no idea why. Anyways he shouldn't complain.

A week had passed since they first talked to each other and Lauri got to know Sheryl better and better. She loved to play the violin and her dream was to get to the conservatoire. So she was practising as much as she could beside school. Lauri admired her ambitious attitude and that reminded him of himself. He was training hard to get the sports scholarship, but to have Soren as a rival, it would be hard.

"Soren is a great playmaker but you are the one who gets the score for your team," Sheryl always told him, "So you don't have to worry at all. In my opinion you're even better than Soren Larsen."

Because Lauri and Sheryl often were hanging out together, it wasn't a secret that they were friends. At the same time the Finn got some tough time, especially because some of his classmates were kind of picking on him. Freaking rumours and its spreading potential.

"Lamminen, why don't you introduce your new girlfriend to us?"

"You succeeded the Débuchy Challenge?"

"What cheeky tricks did you use to get her?"

"Why did she choose you in the first place?"

They were just friends and Lauri was tired of explaining that over and over again. Moreover his classmates didn't believe him anyways, so the young Finn let them talk, although it annoyed him.

One evening, Lauri got a text message from Sheryl suggesting to go to school together, which took him quite aback. They barely knew each other for more than two weeks, but why not? Friends were going to school together, hanging out together,... and they were friends, right? Happily Lauri texted her back.

Unfortunately like every morning, Lauri was sleepy as hell when he arrived at the station. He was never a big fan of getting up early and would rather stay at home and go to school in the afternoon. But whatever, that was school life. In this country, middle school students have to attend in the morning and class ends in the late afternoon like in most countries. Anyways, the first thing Lauri needed, was his cup of freshly brewed coffee without anything. In his opinion black coffee was the real coffee for men, not those with milk and sugar and all that sweetening stuff that was spoiling its natural bitter aroma. Although Lauri was just 16, he liked black coffee the best and that was the only thing that could keep him awake besides energy drinks.
"Good morning, Laursen," Sheryl beamed at him when she saw the blonde youngster, but the Finn seemed to ignore her. He didn't realise that Sheryl had greeted neither that she was standing in front of him! With a few seconds of delay, Lauri finally realised it and mumbled a sleepy 'morning'.

"Didn't sleep enough?" Sheryl titled her head and Lauri just nodded as a reply while yawning, "Shall we get some coffee?"

By the word coffee, Lauri immediately got a bit more awake, which made Sheryl smile even brighter.

Today...

Weird. His first two lessons passed and Lauri was sitting on the window ledge in the first floor sipping on his cup of coffee like every morning, but something was odd. Math lessons were actually fine, his professor didn't try to confuse his class with complicated vocabulary, no normal person would ever use, but Lauri still couldn't think what was disturbing him. His black coffee tasted as bitter as he liked it, the notorious two were quarrelling...

Wait, no they weren't. That was the reason why something seemed odd to Lauri. It was way too quiet, because normally the notorious two should be shouting and trying to destroy everyone's, especially the Finn's, nerves. But that day, it was peaceful, maybe too peaceful for Lauri's taste. A group of first year students, probably from his parallel classes, passed the Finn and he overheard a conversation about his two fighting upper classmates.

"Romanov and Débuchy seemed to ignore each other."

"I wonder why..."

"Romanov seemed to have found a girlfriend and that's why he's avoiding all quarrels and other relationship killing stuff with Débuchy."

"Seems legit though."

Hmm, interesting? Not really but it was good news that Lauri's college found peace and quiet in the end. A smile hushed over the blonde Finn's face and surprisingly his coffee tasted much better than before.

After school, whenLauri was walking down the stairs, he could see Etienne waiting in front of the gates. The Finn frowned and was wondering what his friend was doing here out of all places? Lauri's question was quickly answered, when he saw Sheryl walking towards the half Spaniard. They greeted each other in a very familiar way, with hugs and air kisses. It confused the young Finn even more when Etienne put his arm around her waist. Wait, didn't Etienne just tell him about his so called Guerilla tactic this morning?

"No way he succeeded the fucking challenge," Lauri mumbled and immediately grabbed his mobile out of his pocket to dial Etienne's number. A happy Spaniard answered, which kind of crept him out. If Etienne was in an especially good mood like that, he was spreading pheromones all over the place and that sent Lauri chills to the bones.

"Hellow friendo!"

"Fuck you bro, what have you done?"

"What do you mean, man? I'm going out with the most beautiful girl in the world. Ouch!"

Obviously Sheryl had hit him in the arm, because Lauri could hear her voice in the background telling Etienne not to say such nonsense. He was also quite certain that she was blushing at the moment.

"What nonsense? You are beautiful- Ouch!" the Spaniard was laughing and got another hit, "Sorry man, but I have to hang up. See ya."

Lauri wanted to respond something, but his friend already hung up. This bastard! The Finn still couldn't believe that Etienne's stupid Guerilla tactic worked out. On top of this the freaking Spaniard just told Lauri about his plans in the very morning!

"What a bitch, man..."
