"How
was it possible to forget it?" he asked himself again and again. It was
his Lucky Charm after all, a small Korean charm that looked like a small bag. Lauri
wouldn't leave his house without it. Luckily the college's doors weren't closed,
which was very careless from the staff but at the same time the young Finn was
quite lucky to be able to sneak in around this time. Lauri rushed up the stairs
to his classroom and found his charm under his table. Finally holding the
small, colourful bag in his hands again, Lauri felt much more comfortable. It
was very precious to him after all. Anyways, time to go home. Lauri rushed down
the stairs when he heard a dull bang. A burglar? But what was a burglar doing
at a college? Okay, he could steal some computers or other things that had cost
the college a fortune to afford them. Moreover the main entrance wasn't closed
and every stranger could enter the building. Still, from Lauri's point of view, a college wasn't a
great place to target because there were other places a burglar could break in.
Another
bang. Something was slammed against a wall. A heavy object but it wasn't
fragile and somehow it sounded like... a bag of meat? Hmm, should Lauri look
for the bad guy or simply go home? After thinking about it for a short while, his
stupid curiosity got the Finn, although he was afraid of the dangerous encounter.
No matter what would happen, Lauri could immediately push the fire alarm button, which could be found on each floor. The burglar would be forced to run away or
else he might get caught. At least it would be like this in theory...
Baam, the
heavy object was slammed against the wall again. Did it come from the music
practise rooms? At the moment the young Finn was in the first floor, where the
first years classrooms and the culture clubs were located. The music practise
rooms were the closest to the stairs, so it wasn't surprising that Lauri could
hear the dull bang. Standing still and holding his breath trying to locate the
sound when it appeared again, Lauri was very sure that it came from the stupid
room Daniel and Sheryl were fighting for. If not, then from one of the other
rooms but Lauri was quite sure that the noise came from there. The closer he
came the clearer he could hear the sound. What was it? Or the better question,
what was a burglar doing in a practise room? Suddenly the dull sound disappeared
and a click told him that a door was unlocked! The door opened and Lauri's
heart sank into his shoes.
"What
the heck are you doing here??!"
"Huh,
what? I can ask you the same question!"
Lauri
expected a burglar, maybe one of his
schoolmates, but not him! What on earth was Daniel Romanov doing here around
this time? The Belarusian looked paler than usual and kind of exhausted. You
could tell that this guy was kind of ill and on his limits before falling into
unconsciousness.
"What's
the matter?"
There was
someone else inside the practise room and Lauri could tell that it was a girl. That
wasn't just any girl and that caused the Finn headaches. Knowing that his underclass
mate noticed her voice, Daniel immediately shut the half opened door and glared
at him.
"You
better go or else you will regret to have come."
Actually
Lauri didn't let anyone tell him what he should do and what not. But in this
situation he rather didn't want to know what was going on at all. So the Finn
just left. Lauri rushed down the stairs and left his college as fast as possible.
Questions over questions and for none of them he had a plausible answer.
On the next
day the notorious two were arguing in the hall again. What a drama about
nothing. Lauri was sitting on the window ledge in the second floor near his
classroom, sipping on his black coffee. The hot, bitter drink was
running down his throat and heating his inners up. The young student definitely
didn't have enough sleep at all and he still felt very sleepy although he had
drunk several cups of coffee by now.
"Aw
man, who started the fight?", one of Lauri's classmates wondered, when he
passed him. The Finn yawned and kind of glared at that guy before he took
another sip from his coffee.
"Am I
supposed to give an answer to that question?"
"Uhm,
yeah?"
Concluding
by the guy's seriousness in his voice, he was really expecting a proper answer
from him! Lauri rolled his eyes and simply went away. He wanted peace and
quiet, especially when he was just half awake. Stupid people. Why do they even
care about the daily quarrels? While walking down the stairs to get to another
window ledge he could sit on, Lauri had to pass the notorious two. Great... The
Finn didn't want to hear too much of the quarrel, but while passing them, Lauri
noticed something he'd never noticed before. As if the encounter between him
and Daniel had opened his eyes, he could see the Belarusian smirking. He was enjoying
those quarrels with Sheryl? Was he toying with her? Sheryl was struggling not
to lose control of the fight, but Lauri could clearly see that she was having a
tough time and Daniel was dominating her. Was she also just playing a role in
front of the others? Suddenly Lauri's eyes met those of Daniel and the
Belarusian's look was like daggers thrown at him. Enraged by that glare and still
grumpy, the Finn withstood it and even threw those daggers back. If Daniel had
thought that he could mind bully everyone, he didn't expect Lauri's stubbornness.
"Why
the fuck are you starring at me? Am I a freaking cookie or what?" Lauri
shouted at Daniel and got all the attention of his schoolmates. Even Sheryl was
looking at him, the first time for two years. But it didn't matter, in this
moment there were just Daniel and Lauri. What an arrogant guy, his gaze was so
cold. Suddenly Daniel broke the stare and walked away. So did the other students
and Sheryl, but Lauri's upper classmate was kind of running away from him.
Seeing her disappearing around the corner, Lauri decided to get another cup of
coffee.
